Working in Morris County
Morris County is west of Lodi, reached on Route 46 or Route 80, and it is a genuine drive rather than a hop. We work here by appointment.
Suburban geometry, suburban problems
Morris is greener and lower density than the counties closer to the base, and that changes the drain work in a consistent way: the lines are longer and there are more trees over them.
A Bergen County borough lot might put twenty-five feet between the house and the street main. A Morris County property can easily put a hundred feet between them, running under a lawn, a driveway and a stand of trees planted when the house was built. Everything about a long buried run is harder — locating it, reaching the far end of it, and knowing which of its many joints has failed.
This is the part of our service area where a camera inspection most reliably saves money, because the gap between "clear the line" and "dig up the line" is widest when the line is long and expensive to reach.
Septic
Parts of Morris County, particularly in the west and north of the county, are on septic rather than municipal sewer. Two things are worth being clear about:
- We clear and clean the drain lines inside and leaving the house, and we can camera the run to the tank.
- We are not a septic pumping company. If the tank is full, it needs pumping, and that is a different trade — we will tell you that rather than sell you a drain cleaning that will not help.
Knowing which of the two you are dealing with is exactly what the camera is for. A line that is clear all the way to a tank that will not accept any more is not a drain problem.
Trees and roots
Mature oak, maple and willow are all over this county and all three are aggressive toward clay joints — willow more than the others. If you have a line that blocks every eighteen months to two years, roots are the likely reason, and the choice is between a maintenance cycle and a section replacement. Both are legitimate; which is right depends on how bad the joints look on camera.
